About

The Friends of Veterans Memorial Library is a nonprofit service organization that has supported our hometown library with funds and volunteer hours since 1982. Through memberships and book sales, the Friends raise funds to strengthen library resources and services.  Memberships range from $5 (seniors) and $10 (individuals) to $15 (families) and $25+ (patrons and benefactors).

Our Purpose

  • Strengthen the association of people who understand the value of our library
  • Encourage community use of our library facilities and its many informational services
  • Improve public awareness and understanding of the library
  • Assist the library with its specific needs
  • Promote gifts to the library

Projects of the Friends

  • Purchase of special equipment for the library such as audiovisual equipment, display racks, storage units, and folding tables
  • Artwork displayed in the library
  • Funding for Hoopla, the online service that gives access to films, e-books, audiobooks and graphic novels
  • Contributions of special items for the children’s department
  • Sponsorship of performances and activities such as authors, musicians, storytellers, and actors
  • An annual fall book sale and a small selection of books for sale year round
